Adding to my transportation repertoire, this week the City is unveiling the new official Mayor’s Bike, dubbed #buddysbike.  The bike will be released into the Juice Bike Share system as part of the expansion beginning Friday. Riders of the Mayor’s Bike can use the hashtag #buddysbike to post photos and video featuring the bike online via social media.

The bike features a specialty basket, showcasing Orlando’s skyline. Our design concept was simple – we wanted the easily recognizable skyline to be visible from afar. The colors *may* reflect a certain Mayor’s affinity for the Florida Gators.

The City of Orlando has been designated a “Bicycle Friendly Community” since 2000 and is home to more than 300 miles of urban bicycling trails, signed routes and lanes.  The City promotes bicycling as a form of transportation by incorporating complete streets policies to make roads safe and accessible to all users, and has created numerous community action initiatives with assistance from the Orlando Police Department to educate cyclists and motorists about the history, safety and benefits of bicycling.
