Blues B-Q is one of the City of Orlando’s four signature events and features national and local blues acts as well as Orlando’s finest mouth-watering barbecue available for purchase.

Goals: Each year the City of Orlando’s Office of Communications and Neighborhood Relations graphics team updates the artwork that is used in the marketing and advertising of each signature event. I always enjoy the opportunity to do a stylized piece, and had a lot of fun researching old school blues posters to use as inspiration.

This year’s headline performer, Betty White, has an amazing group of promoters that I worked with to get the image style that we needed for the poster. Then, drawing from my inspiration, I created an old-school blues style poster using Illustrator and Photoshop, and a brand new batch of stylized fonts.

The completed design was used online on the City of Orlando’s website, Cox Media’s radio and event partner’s sites as well as all of the City’s and event partners social media platforms. Posters were also printed and distributed throughout the City.
