What is Ciclovia, you ask? I did the same thing.
About the event: On September 21, Robinson Street in Downtown Orlando will be car free for Ciclovia. Citizens will have the chance to bike, roll and stroll while enjoying games and activities for all ages. Ciclovia is a Spanish term for “cycleway” and is a long-standing tradition in South America, where miles of roads are closed every Sunday. During Orlando’s first Ciclovia event, the cars on Robinson Street near Lake Eola Park will be replaced by bikes and pedestrians.
About the graphic: The original concept proposed by the Transportation Engineering Department and reThink was to have the wording look like a street sign. After a creative discussion, we decided to focus on the “street” aspect of the event, utilizing side walk art as inspiration. Because this was a first time event and an unknown “concept,” we highlighted the activities you could do during the event in front of our downtown skyline. I loved how the typography came together, giving this a modern, edgy feel. The graphics were used for the event flyer, event poster and social media graphics.
