Bret Thomas, a graphic artist in the Office of Communications & Neighborhood Relations and the Green Works Orlando team recently received the Silver Circle Award at the 2014 Savvy Awards. The group was recognized for the graphic design of Mayor Dyer’s 2013 Green Works Orlando Community Action Plan among cities with populations over 85,000.
The Savvy Awards competition recognizes outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-engagement relationships. The awards salute skilled and effective city, county, agency or district professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations in communications and marketing.
The Green Works Orlando Community Action Plan promotes the educational aspect of “green” community outreach and was designed to be informative and lead citizens in active engagement toward long-term sustainability.
The Savvy Awards judges had plenty of praise for the publication:
“Well organized, engaging and beautiful to look at with great color palate and info-graphics. Graphic elements are creative, but not distracting so meaningful, comprehensive content becomes easily digestible.”
